Edit: now with video, you want to see scary? here is Scary.
Last night marked the first night where we tested out the new Tier 3 battlecruisers proper with the whole gang, it turned out to be quite the night.
Our favorite Frenemies, the Tuskers, had located an unstable wormhole deep into the region of Aridia, to a sector where we knew the awful awful Blind Octopus alliance likes to mission in carriers. Now, Blind Octopus has a lot of money, but not a lot of talent. They are in fact so bad that Rooks and Kings are on record saying they Blued them simply because they were so bad they felt bad killing them.
We suffer no such compunctions of course.
We formed up in our (highly photogenic) gang of Naga, Oracles and Tornadoes supported by some recon tackle and a small number of scimitars (though we were not under the impression we would be able to tank any serious fire; being able to at least not die to gateguns was definitely a perk) and set out towards Jovainon where the wormhole was located.
Meanwhile the Tuskers were harassing the cephalopods with their usual mix of drakes and canes. They seemed quite eager to chase the Tuskers around which played nicely into our plans.
We set up on a gate on the other side of the wormhole and the Tuskers set about luring the enemy to us. After a few tense minutes the hostile gang (outnumbering and outgunning the poor Tuskers quite severely) was on the other side of the gate. Tuskers engaged and we sat, waiting, with bated breath for the inevitable escalation.
It only took 15 seconds or so.
Cyno went up and an archon entered the field and immediately hit triage. 5 Guardians, Archon triage, at zero on a gate? good odds.
We jumped into the fray and then burned like mothers to get away from the proteuses (?), abaddons, megathrons and assorted bullcrap. Once at range we began our grim work.
Primaries were called and literally dropped in seconds, scythed in half by incandescent beam lasers, blasted to smithereens by Artillery and Railguns. It was awesome.
Once we’d cleared the field of battleships and co. we layed into the Archon, which began dropping like a rock. He entered a new triage cycle, repped like (hah) his life depended on it and initiated self destruct. I was running out of cap in a hurry at this point, but it no longer mattered. The Archon exploded in a glorious fireball and we set about looting the ample wrecks for their delicious faction goodness. The only loss was a single tornado which got scrammed and not repped (oopsie!).
Result: TOTAL HELLDEATH http://shadowcartel.com/kb/?a=kill_related&kll_id=24765
We roamed a bit further for the rest of the night but found very little that did not run at the sight of our terrifying new arsenal of inexpensive death machines.
One thing of note was this poor sap: http://shadowcartel.com/kb/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=24767
We found this maelstrom sitting on a station and decided to give it a shot. The poor sap died so fast most of us didnt even get to lock him… and we podded him as well… snakes. Wow.
Finally, while screwing around in Tama, we probed an “unprobable” loki, much to the owner’s surprise in local chat. To make things even better, the pilot ejected and (for once) we were able NOT to kill the thing. Score one gang link loki for corp. We needed one of those thank you very much.
All in all, the new Battlecruisers are bloody brilliant glass cannons, and a joy to fly. I expect them nerfed before the end of the year.
Below you will find a plethora of pretty screenshots of the whole affair.
Fly reckless.
